Today in class a girl sitting next to me was crying. She was trying her hardest to hold it in but I notice the tears trickling off her cheek. I warmly said “hi” with a smile. She took a few seconds to compose herself and said, “hello” with a smile but I could see she was hurting by the look in her eyes. I noticed on her phone she had a picture of the Eiffel Tower. I decided to make her a quick drawing in class. Curious, she looked over and said it’s really good. Before class ended I wrote on the top “To: Emily, smile :) From: Jeff f.” I ripped out of my notebook and handed it to her. She read the little message, and smiled. That simple smile is all I wanted to see, well worth the work I put into the drawing.
